During the rainy summer months the Savuti Marsh becomes a wetland comparable to the Okavango Delta.  The lush land and greenery attracts a plethora of herbivores that are are closely followed by large numbers of predators which gives Savuti its game viewing reputation.  The peak period for this is November and December.  In contrast the dry season is marked by elephant, buffalo and other wildlife congregating around remaining waterholes making for superb wildlife moments.  The daily temperatures can rise well into the 40 degrees in September and October but safaris are rewarding.

Situated in the heart of the world famous Chobe National Park, Camp Savuti is positioned on the banks of the Savuti Channel and close to the famous Savuti Marsh.  The area is known as one of Africa’s wildlife hotspots – with its landscapes and ecology supporting a large variety of plant, bird and animals. Camp Savuti encompasses the highlights of any traditional safari – abundant game viewing and authentic, tented accommodation. Experience the thrill of watching predators in their natural habitat from the comfort of an open air 4×4 vehicle in the company of knowledgeable and experienced rangers.  The Savuti area is also known for its large population of bull Elephants and the mass migration of zebras, a mass wildlife movement only second to the great migrations in East Africa.

Meru Style Tents

The accommodation experience at Camp Savuti is best described as “camping in style”. Located on elevated wooden platforms, the 5 Meru style canvas tents are positioned apart from each other in between the natural bush to offer privacy.  Each of the Tents offers rustic luxury with en suite bathrooms with a bath, large beds with pure cotton linen and outdoor showers.  Note that Camp Savuti is eco friendly and uses solar panels to generate power.

Dining

An intimate lounge, bar and dining area offers views of the Savuti channel.  The main area is beautifully decorated with African inspired woodwork and cattle skin rugs for that authentic feel.  The meals are carefully prepared by the kitchen team with local flavors and ingredients inspiring the dishes.  At night enjoy a scrumptious meal under the night sky in the traditional boma.

Activities

Guests dont need to leave he camp to view wildlife as the unfenced camp often receives wildlife visitors on their way to the Savuti Channel to drink.  Other sights include Hippos grunting from the cool waters of the channel, elephants sampling the trees in the camp and vibrant birdlife to enjoy. The rainy summer months have wildlife flocking to the Savuti region with the zebras migrating to the area to bear their foals. Guests can view this and more during the two game drives per day to explore the surrounding area.
