Linyanti comes to live during the winter months.  The water sources in the park dry up with the permanent channels around Linyanti becoming the only available water for miles.  Elephant and buffalo herds gather in large numbers which is an amazing sight to behold.  Once the rain season starts Linyanti is inundated with water from December to April which makes for superb water orientated safaris.  Linyanti offers wonderful birding and beautiful landscapes in summer but exceptional game viewing is best done in winter.

If safari quality and raw African wilderness is more important than butler service and the thread count of linen,  then Camp Linyanti it the perfect destination. It is not an opulent luxury lodge, rather a charming rustic and comfortable camp with a strong sense of wild Africa.  Camp Linyanti is located in the water wonderland of the north west corner of the Chobe National Park where guests can enjoy both safaris on water and on land.  The camp only accommodates a maximum of ten people and therefore ideal for visitors who enjoy privacy.  Guests are hosted by passionate, knowledgeable guides who will share the secrets of the Linyanti floodplains with its rich diversity of bird life and animals.  Camp Linyanti’s superb position in a game viewing paradise, it’s eco friendly ethos, solar power and lightly built permanent tented camp offers the true essence of a Botswana safari holiday.

Tented Chalets

The 5 individual, circular canvas tents are elevated slightly from the ground with stairs leading onto private decks.  The structures blend in with the surrounding environment in a simple yet elegant fashion.  Twin or double beds accommodate 2 people per tent but an extra bed can be brought in if a triple room is required.  Individual controlled air conditioning is also available.  Each tent has an en suite bathroom with an outdoor shower under the African skies.  Solar panels provide sustainable power to the camp.

Fresh ingredients and local flavours come together to create hearty safari meals.  Savour an early morning coffee before heading out on the first game drive of the day.  A cooked breakfast awaits back at the Camp after the morning game drive.  Lunch is normally enjoyed on the extensive wooden decks overlooking the Linyanti river and floodplains beyond it.  Sundowners are served during the afternoon game drive when the guide will stop so that guests may take a quiet moment in the bush to watch the setting sun.  An exciting game viewing day comes to an end around the camp fire.

The Linyanti is known as one of the best game viewing destinations in Botswana. The permanent water sources and marshlands attract a variety of both terrestrial and aquatic animals.  Guests will enjoy two game drives and one boating activity per day during where they will enjoy the numerous birds and wildlife that call Linyanti home.  Large elephant and buffalo herds can be seen along with rare antelope such as sable and roan. Before the Savuti channel started to flow again the Linyanti was home to lions that were known to take down elephants.  Today this is seldom seen but the lions still roam the area in high numbers.
