    Daily scheduled flights are operated from Johannesburg International Airport to the Madikwe Airstrip with Federal Air / Madikwe Air Charters. Private air -charters are organised on request. It is only a 4-hour drive from Johannesburg to Jaci’s Safari Lodge – Road transfers can be arranged and Self-drive is possible in 2×4 vehicles.

  • Best time to travel

    The best time to visit Madikwe Game Reserve is between March and November, when temperatures are lower, the summers are very hot. Rainy Season: It rains from October to April with the highest rainfall expected between November and February. Daytime temperatures are hot and humid with an average of 31°C. Dry Season: The winter months of May to September are dry and cold with evening temperatures as low as 2°C and 22°C in the daytime.

Luxury Tents

Jaci’s Safari Lodge tented suites are decorated in vibrant colours and African textures. Each suite is home to a large mosaic bath (big enough for two to share), a private outdoor shower and a suspended viewing deck from which to watch warthogs rolling in the mud or tree squirrels darting through the foliage. With thatch roofs, low stone walls and canvas panels that roll up, the Lodge’s six spacious tented suites let the outside in, making for an exclusive African safari experience. The suites are equipped with underfloor heating to ensure that you are comfortable during the chilly winter months, and air conditioning and a ceiling fan to keep you cool during sunburnt summer days.


At Jaci’s, the chefs are dedicated to preparing fresh, wholesome and tasty dishes. Menus feature fresh, seasonal South African produce and meats, meal schedules are flexible, typically tailored around your game drives.


Whether you want to capture priceless images of wildlife from the center of the watering hole, or sit quietly, immersing yourself in your surroundings, you can do it at the Terrapin Hide. The Terrapin Hide  is a submerged, water level aquatic hide that is accessible to all of our guests, 24 hours a day, via under water tunnel. Visited by a wide variety of mammals and birds alike, you can sit quietly and watch the animals coming down to drink as if you weren’t even there. Also learn to walk in the wild in the Madikwe Game Reserve with your senses finely tuned to every sound and smell. Accompanied by an expert walking-trails guide from Jaci’s Lodges, you’ll explore parts of Madikwe on foot. You may not see many of the larger animal species, but you will learn so much more about the relationship between flora and fauna in the African bush, making it an unforgettable experience, for all your senses.
