With its low rainfall, Namibia is generally good to visit all year round.  Rainfall can be expected between the months of December to March but it’s generally localized, afternoon thunderstorms.  The winter months of June to August are generally pleasant during the day but very cold to freezing at night, especially in some desert areas.  Keen photographers generally prefer the months of March to May and August to October to visit Sosussvlei as the cool air offers clear skies for photography.

Adjacent to one of the oldest deserts in the world, Sossusvlei Lodge is a luxurious retreat and ideal base for visitors wanting to see and experience one of Namibia’s premier tourist attractions.  The Lodge’s eco friendly design allows it to blend in seamlessly with its spectacular desert landscape that is dotted with camel thorn trees.  Explore the vastness of the Namib Desert’s unspoiled natural environment in the company of the guides from the Sossusvlei Lodge Adventure Centre. Escape the heat of the day in the sparkling pool or with an ice cold beer under the shady trees in the Acacia Beer Garden.  At night the al fresco terrace offers stunning views of the floodlit waterhole which is frequented by oryx, springbok, jackal and heyna.

Luxury Units

Sossusvlei Lodge offers 45 luxury air conditioned accommodation units. The units are all individually placed to ensure guests can enjoy the magnificent views.  The under canvas styling gives a distinctive sense of being close to nature whilst at the same time providing all the comforts required.  The interiors are spacious and feature tea and coffee making facilities and en suite bathroom.  It is quite rewarding to relax on the private patio after a busy day of sightseeing and exploration.

The team at Sossusvlei Lodge pride themselves on their mouthwatering cuisine and extensive buffets that are presented.  The Terrace is the perfect venue to enjoy a meal whilst enjoying views over Elim Dune and the floodlit waterhole that is often frequented by wildlife such as oryx, springbok and hyena.  During the day guests can enjoy light meals and drinks from the Sossusvlei Lodge Bar.  For those that have planned day trips to Sossusvlei, Sesriem or Deadvlei, the kitchen team will happily pack enticing breakfast and / or lunch packs as long as these are ordered the day before.

The Sossusvlei Lodge Adventure Centre offers unique ways of experiencing the haunting beauty of the desert landscape.  One of the highlights has to be a hot air balloon flight over the desert.  The guides are all very knowledgeable and will share their first hand experience and insights with guests during guided activities.  Activities on offer include guided visits to Sossusvlei, sundowner nature drives, bush dinners, guided nature walks, Sesriem Canyon excursions and more.
