  • Best time to travel

Botswana is a year round destination and deciding when to go depends on the traveller’s wishlist during the trip.  The winter months (June – August) are the best for game viewing as the foliage is thin, water is scarce and therefore wildlife congregate around available water sources.  September & October are normally the driest period but also the hottest.  Once the rains fall there is normally an explosion of bird life and baby animals which also makes for a rewarding time to travel.

Situated between the Nxai Pan National Park and Moremi Game Reserve, Tuskers Bush Camp is situated on an expansive private concession that includes the northern tip of the Botswana Kalahari.  This exclusive part of African bushveld and mopane forest is ideal for game drives and walking safaris.  Exploring on foot in the company of an experienced guide is a fantastic way to learn more of the beauty and intricacies of the African bush.  The wildlife in the area is abundant and easily spotted from the unfenced camp.  Small and intimate, with only 6 safari tents, guests enjoy exclusivity and privacy during their stay.   Tuskers Bush Camp has a traditional camping safari feel which is evident in its simplistic design, canvas tents and eco bathrooms.

Meru Style Safari Tents

The 6 Meru style tents offer rustic comfort.  The two single beds are covered in crisp linen, in addition to a luggage rack, bedside pedestals and chairs.  The bathrooms have a bucket shower that is filled with heated water for a warm shower.  Drinking water is provided in flasks that are replenished daily or on request.  Solar panels provide lighting in the tents with paraffin lanterns lighting the pathways at night.

Meals are served in the safari style dining tent that forms the heart of the camp.  In addition there is an open air boma and camp fire area overlooking the pan which often visited by animals during the course of the day .  A coffee station in the dining tent provides a caffeine rush for those early morning activities.

Tuskers Bush Camp gives guests the opportunity to enjoy sought after walking safaris in the Kalahari acacia bushveld which flourishes intermittently in the 365 000 ha private concession. This is an amazing way to explore the bush, in the company of an experienced and knowledgeable guide, as you encounter wild animals and learn to recognize their tracks and signs. In addition to the walking safaris there are also traditional game drives, as well as night drives are available.  Guests can view the wildlife, which include lion, elephant, wild dogs, leopards and more, that moves freely between the concession and the bordering Moremi Game Reserve.
