Sava Dunes is situated on a tranquil part of the Mozambique coastline between the bustling beaches of Barra and Tofo. In keeping with their eco ethos the lodge is operated “off grid” on solar power and crystal clear water comes from their local borehole. The lodge is set up on the dunes to allow guests unobstructed views of the ocean, a great vantage point from which to view the humpback whales when they migrate up the Mozambique coastline.

With only five cottages, accommodating a maximum of ten guests, Sava Dunes offers an exclusive getaway. Each cottage has breath taking views overlooking the Indian Ocean. Enjoy the views from the villa’s private deck which features a hammock and day bed for your relaxation.

Dining

The laid back atmosphere of the restaurant, with its magnificent views, is the perfect location to sample some of the unique flavours of Mozambique’s cuisine. The menu is carefully planned by the team each day to cater for clients dietary needs as well as offer an unforgettable introduction to the flavours and combinations that the area is known for. Highly rated is the authentic grilled prawns marinated in lime and chilli.

Activities

The area is well known for its great marine activities. The Tofo area has one of the highest concentrations of whale sharks and manta rays to be found. The team at Sava Dunes will be happy to assist you with information and bookings for scuba diving, snorkelling trips, ocean safaris and more along with road transfers to Tofo from where the activities are done.
